The Food Pantry

every 1st Saturday*
between 9:30 – 11:30 am

This monthly Food Pantry has been a long-standing Upper West Side mission outreach organized by Advent Lutheran Church (our "partner in ministry" — we share the church building with them).

A free bag of groceries (rice, pasta, canned vegetables, tuna, and a couple of "heat and eat" meals) is given to anyone who shows up — no questions asked. 

Although the program is funded by state and federal sources, the Pantry's staff is made up of volunteers who order, bag and distribute the food. The recipients are frequently surveyed to find out about their household sizes and food needs, so that the program can grow to better serve our community.

If you need food:

Groceries are distributed beginning at 10:30 am. Please enter at the red double doors on the corner of 93rd and Broadway. Bags of groceries (one per person) are distributed until all bags have been handed out, usually around 11:30 am.

If you would like to assist:

Volunteer hours are from 9:30 to 11:30 am on the first Saturday of every month (see note about holidays below). Bagging takes place from 9:30 to 10:30, and distribution begins at 10:30 a.m., with clean-up lasting until about 12 noon.

Please consider helping out – it’s another great way in which Broadway UCC and Advent Lutheran can be two congregations that share a church building and work together as “one body of Christ!”

* When the 1st Saturday occurs on a holiday weekend, the lunch is often shifted to a different Saturday — see our Calendar for exact dates.

This Food Pantry program receives money from The United Way and other charitable sources, but monetary donations are always needed and appreciated: simply contact Advent Lutheran.
