Travis B. Winckler,
Associate Pastor
Travis B. Winckler was called as Associate Pastor of Broadway United Church of Christ on November 15, 2009.
Raised by a single mother in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Travis grew up in the United Church of Christ and experienced the welcome and nurture of a faith community. Supported and encouraged by his UCC congregation from an early age, Travis sensed a call to ministry by the time he entered college at the University of Sioux Falls. As a theology and philosophy major, he followed his academic interests to Oxford University (UK) where he studied philosophy and medieval church history. Travis’s call to ministry led him to Princeton Theological Seminary where his interests in theology and pastoral ministry were increasingly shaped and informed by political and social concerns. While a seminary student Travis served an urban church in Seattle, WA, studied religion and politics as a congressional assistant in Washington DC, and administered pastoral care as a chaplain assistant at a psychiatric hospital in New Jersey. Through his service in each of these settings Travis aspires to a vision of Christian faith that is embodied in the world - theologically substantive, relationally supportive, spiritually nourishing, and socially transformational.
