Broadway Book Club

Our July book will be James Baldwin's novella of a young couple in love in 1970's Harlem, If Beale Street Could Talk, which was recently a movie.

The "Romeo" of this pair has been unfairly jailed by police. Originally published in 1974, it should be available in public libraries. It's also available at B&N as a slim paperback bearing the images of the movie actors who played the leads.

For those unfamiliar with James Baldwin, this short novel is a quick introduction to one of America's great writers.

For those interested, simply read the book on your own time and come ready to discuss!
